Following their longest break between albums, Manic Street Preachers returned in November 2004 with an LP dominated by electronic sounds which was recorded in Wales, Ireland, and New York.
A song left in the archives for eight years, ‘Judge Yr’ Self’ was intended for the Judge Dredd film soundtrack but finally saw release in 2003.
The first of just two “new” tracks on the Lipstick Traces compilation, ‘4 Ever Delayed’ was originally destined for the previous compilation, but should really have been a single.
2002’s Forever Delayed compilation didn’t contain the track by that name or the track that contained that phrase, but did contain the beautiful ‘Door to the River’.
The 1 Love charity compilation was released on October 14th 2002, the same date as the Manics’ then-latest single, and contained their cover of a Rolling Stones classic.
