Just as with the previous single Autumnsong, the 7-inch vinyl limited edition of Indian Summer features an instrumental B-side – ‘You Know It’s Going to Hurt’.

In contrast to its pounding, experimental predecessor, this particular instrumental is more experimental and calm. It opens with acoustic guitar, leading to echoing electric. The song alternates between two basic segments, one more intense with drums and the other spacier and quieter. While it is as interesting a curio as all Manics instrumentals are, ‘You Know It’s Going to Hurt’ is too slight to remain in the memory.

In his note to fans, Wire described its “post-rock drums”, “prog-rock guitars” and called it “very strange.”
